The Notebook James Holmes sent to Lynne Fenton
This is my idea of what the notebook James Holmes sent to Lynne Fenton might look like. Since we’ve never been able to see it, I did some searching to find a brown spiral notebook with Name & Course on the cover. I’d like to point out an error. The mail date stamp stamp of July 12, 2012 has never been confirmed and has been disputed in testimony.
Computation Book: James was a neuroscience major and this appears to fit in with the type of notebook a student would use in that field of study.
Remember the science camp video?
Will we ever know why James sent the notebook to Fenton and the meaning behind the infinity symbol and $400 of burnt currency in all $20’s? What Course: Of Life means? What is written inside the pages?
We’ll never know what James was thinking but this is my little way of guessing what the notebook might look like based on the facts we have.
Jana Winter broke an exclusive story five days after the shooting revealing the existence of the notebook.
She persisted to find a law enforcement officer that would provide the contents of the notebook even though a gag order had been set in place. Every law enforcement officer that had access to the notebook testified under oath that they did not give any details to Jana. One of them may have lied. Jana was subpoenaed to appear in Arapahoe County District Court on January 3, 2013 to reveal her source or face jail time. A New York high court ruled NY’s shield laws protected her from having to testify. It’s obvious an exclusive story trumps a defendants right to a fair trial and allows a reporter’s source to lie under oath.
